We are starting something new here at the ‘Browser’s Den of Magic’.  Starting something new that is exciting for those who are serious about card magic!
 
The book, ‘The Expert at the Card Table’ book by S.W. Erdnase is the most famous, the most carefully studied book ever published on the art of the manipulation of cards. For over a century this book has been considered indispensable to attaining the highest level of card mastery.
 
Magic’s beloved hero is Dai Vernon. And without a doubt Vernon changed the course and style of magic. And ‘The Expert at the Card Table’ was his leading inspiration.
In fact when Dai Vernon passed away at the age of 98 he had a copy of the book at his bedside.
 
Just over one year ago the ‘Revelation’ book was released to the magic fraternity. In those 392 pages Dai Vernon explains his thoughts about the material and clarifies many sleights and subtleties. It is Dai Vernon who always urged his students to carefully study the book.
And another wonderful giant tome on the book was written by Darwin Ortiz. That book is titled ‘Annotated Erdnase’.
 
So many of you our dear customers love card magic. And some of you have purchased the ‘Expert at the Card Table’ book from us; it is only $14.00.  Not a lot of money for a classic book. The book covers: Erdnase System of Blind Shuffles, Bottom Dealing, Top & Bottom Dealing with One Hand, Second Dealing, Stock Shuffle, System of Cull Shuffling, Erdnase System of Palming, Three Card Monte, Shifts, Blind Shuffle, Forcing, Palming, and much, much more! And card tricks. It’s a tremendous amount of magic packed into a small book. But for many it is not an easy book to study. But study we must as it is a classic book and deserves our time.
 
Therefore we have decided to start a new FREE STUDY GROUP here at ‘Browser’s Den of Magic’ on the Erdnase book.
And we are extremely pleased that Ben Train is willing to come to each session and lead the discussion on the book. Ben Train is a serious student of card magic.  Last year he received the Len Cooper Memorial Award. And Ben has been very influential in bringing into Toronto for lectures legendary card men Darwin Ortiz, Allan Ackerman and Jason England.
Ben Train will not be teaching the book. He is the first to admit that studying Erdnase is a life long pursuit. But he will lead the group in the discussion.
 
Some of us have been doing magic for a long time. And some of us have been doing magic for a short time. But the truth is that most of us have never seriously sat down and studied the most important card magic book of the 20th century. And we think that it is about time that more of us learn why Dai Vernon and all the card greats have studied the book that they simply call…ERDNASE.
