Two spectators are involved, kept completely separate from each other. The first holds four red-backed cards, counted openly and cleanly. The second looks through a small packet of blue-backed cards and merely thinks of one. No fishing, no force, the cards never leave their sight. Both spectators hold their packets apart, seemingly eliminating any possibility of something happening between them.

Then it does. The thought-of blue-backed card vanishes from its packet and reappears, impossibly, among the red-backed cards the first spectator has been holding the entire time.
